تعدّ الهندسة الميكانيكية إحدى فروع الهندسة القائمة على تصميم، وإنتاج، وتشغيل الآلات، وهي واحدة من أقدم وأوسع التخصّصات الهندسيّة، ويتطلب مجال الهندسة فهم المفاهيم الأساسيّة كالميكانيكا، والديناميكا الحراريّة، وعلوم المواد، والتحليل البنيويّ، والكهرباء، ويقومون من خلال ذلك باستخدام العديد من الآلات الحديثة كالتصميم وذلك من خلال الحاسوب، وتدوير المنتج؛ لتصميم وتحليل المصانع والمعدات الصناعية والآلات وأنظمة التدفئة والتبريد، وأنظمة النقل والطائرات، والزوارق، والروبوتات، والأجهزة الطبيّة، والأسلحة، وغيرها الكثير. حيث تهتم الهندسة الميكانيكية بشكلٍ خاص بالقوى والحركة، كما أن هندسة الميكانيكية تهتم في دراسة كافة أشكال الطاقة، وكذلك تأثيراتها على الأجسام، وهو تخصص واسع له علاقة قوية بكافة مجالات الحياة، حيث إنها تتعلق بالصناعات المختلفة؛ كصناعات الفضاء، والطيران، والإنتاج، وتحويل الطاقة، والتكييف، والتبريد، والنقل، وفي المحاكاة المعلوماتيّة. ومن هنا، قمنا بتجميع عدد من عناوين رسائل الماجستير والدكتوراه التي تتناول مواضيعًا معينة في تخصص الهندسة الكيميائية.
