Mechanism of registration in the universities

 What are the university intakes in America? 

The academic year at universities in America usually has two intakes which are Fall and Spring. American universities follow a bi-semester system where an academic year is divided into two semesters. Most of the courses begin in the Fall semester.

There are some exceptions and a few courses accept applications for the Spring semester as well. The Fall semester starts in September and ends in December, while the Spring semester begins in January and ends in May. Most of the times, the semester available is not a choice as most of the popular and important courses commence just with the Fall semester.

The reason why the Fall semester is so popular is because the scholarships and financial aids are aimed at this semester. There are not many financial aid opportunities as well as job opportunities available for the Spring semester, as those who join in the second semester will be considered as less experienced and knowledgeable as those who joined in the Fall.

 Conditions for applying to Istiqlal University in 2016 

There is no doubt that applying for admission to the university requires the student to fulfill all the conditions in the university application for admission because each university has special criteria and conditions that it sets for students who want to join them to study the specializations available to them according to what is appropriate to their abilities.

The submission to Istiqlal University for the academic year 2016 to study many specializations that include the Bachelor of Psychology, the Bachelor of Management Information Systems, the Bachelor of Public Administration and Military Sciences, the Bachelor of Law and Police Sciences, the Bachelor of Security Sciences, the Bachelor of Criminology and Law, the Bachelor of English Language - a sub-Hebrew language and that for students who meet the following conditions:

  1. The applicant must be of Palestinian nationality.
  2. The applicant must have successfully passed the high school exam, with a score of no less than (65%) for the two branches: scientific and literary only.
  3. The length of the applicant should not be less than 170 cm for males and 160 cm for females for all specializations except for the specialization of conditional sciences and law, where the applicant must be at least 175 cm long.
  4. Accept the holders of CGE, SAT, IB certificates provided that they are equivalent from the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
  5. The applicant's age is not more than 19 years old. (Accepted on 4/7/1997 and above).
  6. Students must pass medical examinations, aptitude and fitness exam and a personal interview successfully.
  7. The university allocates 20% of the general acceptance to the children of martyrs, children of prisoners who are still in detention, children of military and civilian retirees, children of workers in the security establishment and athletically excelling, and for people who live in social welfare institutions or who reside in Bedouin communities, Provided that the conditions for admission to the university apply to them.
  8. All applicants are subject to competition according to the general secondary school average and according to the conditions for admission to various colleges.
  9. Adherence to the judicial pledge approved by the specialized authorities and the internal instructions of Istiqlal University.
  10. The applicant must be single and required not to be engaged or to marry while studying.
  11. The applicant does not have a brother or sister who has graduated from or is still studying with Independence University.
  12. The applicant must not smoke.

 Mechanism of registration in the university intake (2016) for the first time 

  1. The registration card is purchased to fill the application form from one of the branches of the Arab Bank, Al-Quds Bank or the Palestine Investment Bank for two hundred and fifty NIS not refundable, from Monday, 4/7/2016, until Monday 8/8/2016.
  2. Applications are submitted electronically through the university's website or (direct link from the main page or through the Deanship of Admission and Registration- Fill in the application form 2016/2017) and the student is not required to come to the university headquarters in Jericho.
  3. Each student must follow the announcements on the university's website or (Admission and Registration Deanship page) to know the date of admission tests, after the end of the registration period.
  4. Certificates (a certified copy of the high school transcript, a certified copy of a birth certificate, a copy of a personal identity, 4 color personal photos) are presented after acceptance and success tests are taken.

All papers required by the student to be submitted in order to obtain approval to enroll in the desired specialty in universities are submitted either via the Internet (on the university’s email or its official website by creating an account) or by sending the papers within an international shipping company to the required university.
