الأدب هو ضربٌ من ضروبِ التعبير الجذاب عما يجول ويلوج في نفس الكتَّاب وخاطرتهم من مشاعرٍ، وأفكارٍ، وآراءٍ، وخلاصة خبرةِ طويلة تجسدت بين أزقة الحياة ودروبها، ويكون كتابة الأدب على أكثر من شاكلة؛ قد تكون نثرية أو شعرية، أو غير ذلك من أشكال إطلاق العنان للنفس لأن تخط ما فيها من روح عبقة ملئا بالمشاعر والأحاسيس والهواجس. والأدب ما هو إلا نتاج فكري يكون في مجمله أساس الحضارة الفكرية واللغوية لأي أمة من الأمم ولكل الأمم؛ فهو انعكاس لمستوى ثقافتها وثقافة شعبها، ولا جَرَمَ أن أي أمة بلا أدب تخلده الأزمان وتتناقله الأجيال هي أمة زائلة مندثرة لا محال، فالأدب كنزٌ ممن كنوز الأمم بها ترفع هاماتها وتعلو قاماتها وبين الحضارات والأمم يتردد صيتها، فأمة بلا ثقافة ولا أدب هي أشبه ما تكون بالسراب.
لقد حظي الأدب على مر العصور والأزمنة بأهمية جد بالغة وواسعة فحرصت الحضارات والأمم على تدوينه وكتابته بمختلف موضوعاته وأشكاله ليكون لها وزنها وقدرها وشأنها بين الأمم الأخرى، وهذا ما نجده جلياً في اهتمام العديد من الحضارات والممالك بالأدب والأدباء والشعر والشعراء والكتب والكتّاب؛ إذ كانت هذه الأمم تسعى جاهدةً إلى تقليدهم بجملة من الامتيازات وحثهم وتشجيعهم على المزيد والمزيد ليكونوا عيناً لا تنضب ولا تجف وعن البذل والعطاء لا تكف، نحن هنا نمدكم بباقةٍ من أحدث الدراسات والأبحاث التي أجريت في موضوع الأدب بهدف مساعدة الباحث في إجراء دراسته من خلال الخوض في هذا العلم والارتشاف منه. إن هذه الدراسات تيسر سبيل الباحث في اختيار موضوع رسالته، وعنوانها بحيث يكون جيدًا ومميزًا وجاذبًا للقارئ، ويوجّهه للعمل عليها بالطريقة السليمة واليسيرة.
